Paul Davis
Paul retired from
the Police in February 2005 having spent the last 10
years of his service in charge of Driver Training
for Leicestershire Constabulary.
During his time in
the driver training arena Paul has developed
training and assessment packages and helped
formulate policies and procedures at both local and
national level.
He has conducted research into many
aspects of driving including the management of
occupational road risk for all levels of driver
within the police family, from basic to advanced
driving. He has overseen vehicle suitability trials
for Police use and, until retirement was a member of
both the Strategic Transport Group and Vehicle User
Group for Leicestershire Constabulary.
Before leaving the
service Paul Chaired the East Midlands Regional
Police Driving Schools Conference and was one of the
longest serving members on the national body.
Earlier this year Paul and a colleague finished the
re-writing of the ‘Police Driving Manual’ and
completed an ACPO generated review of pursuit
training.
Paul has gained a
number of qualifications during his career including
BTEC Higher Diploma in Police Advanced Driver
Instruction, a City and Guilds Adult and Further
Education Certificate and IOSH Risk Assessors
qualifications.
Paul is an ADI and until retirement was an
authorised DSA examiner for the Leicestershire
Constabulary. However, such qualifications are
meaningless unless the skills required to achieve
them are maintained and enhanced, to that end Paul’s
driving, teaching and assessment skills were
regularly monitored.

Innovation in March 2005

Just passed my ADI part 2 exam first time with
only one minor driving error thanks to Driving
Innovations' Paul Davis. Does this guy know his
stuff or what. Not only did he guide me to success,
but also passed on tips and tricks to dovetail for
my ADI part 3. His sense of humour is wicked and we
had some serious laughs along the way. If anyone is
looking for ADI part 2 training, look no further
because this is the guy to do it for you. Many, many
thanks Paul.

If you are within reach of Leicestershire and are
looking for a superb ADI Part 2 trainer, I can
personally recommend Paul Davis of DRIVING
INNOVATION. Paul is highly qualified, very
skilled, incredibly experienced, very knowledgeable
and on top of that he is a darned nice bloke as
well.
I had my first 2 hour session with Paul yesterday
and it was obvious from the very outset that I had
picked the right man for the job. Paul puts you at
ease immediately and gradually introduces things
that need working on without making you feel like a
learner. At no point did I feel patronised or
discouraged - quite the reverse. I am a very
experienced driver having driven lorries and double
deck busses as well as being a professional
chauffeur in the 80's. I went into this part in the
full knowledge that I do not know it all. Paul's
method of correcting minor faults was very good
indeed. On top of that he introduces new 'concepts'
or ways that you just would not think of. An example
was the reverse parking bay. I have always been good
at this, but was struggling in my new small car (I
normally drive Vauxhall Omegas). The method Paul
demonstrated sounded impossible, but heck it worked
immediately and made me think 'how come I never knew
that!!!'
In summary, look nowhere else. Paul and Colin Scott
(who I hope to do my part 3 with) are I believe the
industry leaders in their field and their reputation
goes way in front of them, but I thought I would add
my un-biased opinion to boot. But don't all rush at
once, leave some spaces for me still!
